In kindergarten, your child can learn different fundamental knowledge that allows them to be ready for grade school. At Top Hat Montessori, we make kindergarten fun and enjoyable while covering the academic content your child needs to be on the path for success in grade school. Using the freedom and creativity of Maria Montessori’s method, the kindergartner in our school will learn fundamental skills in math, reading, and writing.

  • Counting from 1 to 100 and beyond, addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • Phonetic awareness (recognition of letters making individual sounds), large and complex vocabulary, and basic sentence structure.
  • Strong fine motor skills to develop clear and precise handwriting.

In addition to the core reading, writing, and arithmetic, Kindergartners at Top Hat will be regularly exposed to concepts in geography, biology, and culture as well as different styles of artistic expression. Furthermore, our student-centered approach means that kindergartners receive many opportunities to learn and practice good manners and altruistic behavior.  Our students will develop both a love for academics and kindness for each other. They will also work in groups through class activities and projects that allow them to show their creativity and develop their ability to work with others.

Each day, highly skilled teachers create a balance of independent discovery, cooperative learning, and generous outdoor playtime, all leading to school-readiness in a safe and secure environment.
